Job Description

Position Summary:

American Anthracite is seeking a Welder to perform high-quality welding and fabrication work in support of our mining operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for repairing and fabricating equipment components, structures, and supports for heavy machinery used throughout our site. This position requires proficiency in multiple welding techniques, a strong understanding of safety protocols, and the ability to work in a rugged, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform MIG, stick, and arc welding to repair and fabricate parts for mobile and stationary equipment, including crushers, screens, conveyors, and structural supports.

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.

• Measure, cut, and prepare materials using torches, grinders, and other shop tools.

• Assist in assembling and installing fabricated components on equipment and structures.

• Conduct inspections on welded parts and ensure all work meets safety and quality standards.

• Support emergency and preventive maintenance work to minimize downtime.

• Maintain welding tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and functional condition.

• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other equipment safely to assist with welding tasks as needed.

• Document work completed and communicate with supervisors and maintenance team members.

• Adhere to all MSHA and company safety policies at all times.

Qualifications:

• Prior welding experience in an industrial, mining, or heavy equipment setting required.

• Proficient in MIG and stick welding; TIG welding experience a plus.

• Ability to read and follow blueprints, technical diagrams, and instructions.

• Welding certification preferred but not required.

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to assist with basic maintenance tasks when needed.

• Ability to work in outdoor environments exposed to weather, dust, noise, and heavy equipment.

• Capable of lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally and performing physically demanding tasks.

• MSHA certification a plus (or willingness to obtain).

• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Work Environment:

This role takes place in a working mining environment. Welders must be able to operate safely around heavy machinery, handle exposure to the elements, and work on elevated or confined spaces when required.v

Schedule:

Schedules are driven by production needs and may include overtime, weekend shifts, or modified hours to meet operational demands.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.20 - $29.77 per hour
