This is a
travel position; all travel expenses, including food, hotel, and mileage, will be covered. The position offers
40+ hours per week.
We are seeking a skilled
Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Operator to join our team in Flora, IL. As an SMT Operator, you will be responsible for assembling, testing, reworking, and inspecting circuit boards with a strong emphasis on quality and efficiency. This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail and a passion for electronics.
Key Responsibilities: Assemble & Rework Circuit Boards: - Receive daily batches from the Lead Final Assembly Technician or Board Assembly Manager.
- Handle all stages of the assembly and rework process, including:
- Operating board assembly equipment such as soldering irons, reflow ovens, board washers, hot air stations, and depanelizers.
- Hand soldering Surface Mount Device (SMD) components with efficiency.
- Read and interpret a Bill of Materials (BOM) for initial assessment and troubleshooting of builds.
- Inspect and identify errors on all components used in the board population.
Test Circuit Boards: - Utilize the internal ERP system to follow written test procedures and ensure full functionality of assemblies.
- Perform "visual inspection" of boards to identify any errors, applying a general understanding of electronics.
Quality Control Inspection: - Follow established procedures to ensure functional circuit boards are completed in the build process, including conducting 25% and 100% inspections of completed boards.
- Document and deliver any erroneous boards and communicate potential corrective actions.
Maintain an Organized & Clean Workspace: - Keep your workstation, inventory, and all other board assembly areas clean and organized.
- Participate in monthly warehouse cleaning.
- Check emails multiple times throughout the day to stay informed and updated.
Qualifications: - Previous experience in SMT operation or similar roles is preferred.
- Proficiency with board assembly equipment and hand soldering techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
- Ability to read and understand technical documents, including BOMs and test procedures.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
