Job Description
Transportation Operations Dispatching Supervisors work in a team environment of dispatchers coordinating the timely delivery of product from Giant's DistributionCenter to our chain of 168 grocery stores in Maryland , Washington DC , Virginia and Delaware .

• Supervisors establish and plan daily schedules to efficiently use our fleet and company drivers and other resources to make these store deliveries timely.
• Supervisors are also responsible for making decisions to achieve efficiency and productivity goals while balancing our warehouse partnerships, store requests, delivery windows and parameters as well as our labor contracts and work rules.
• Supervisors monitor driver productivity and are responsible for coaching and developing driver performance and safety standards.
• Having a working knowledge and experience in transportation distribution dispatching is essential to this position.

Giant's Transportation Department is a 24 hour / day, 7 days / week operation that supports our stores. Supervisors must be available to work any shift including nights, weekends and holidays.
Essential Skills
Requirements for the position:

• Bachelors Degree preferred.
• Previous Transportation / Logistics Experience preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Regulations.
• Previous experience in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to make decisions quickly and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Good working knowledge of the MD / DC / VA geographic map.
• Great inter-personal, team-building, and customer service skills. Supervisors work within a team of dispatchers as well as handle numerous phone calls and requests from internal and external customers.
• Strong leadership skills. Able to make strategic decisions to best use our resources and lead our team. Supervisors also manage some clerical staff as well.
• PC familiarity including Windows, Lotus Notes, Excel and Word.

Able to work any schedule and be flexible as business needs change. Shifts will include nights, weekends, and holidays.
