The Richmond District is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as Superintendent Maintenance for our New Kent Area Headquarters.

As a Superintendent Maintenance, you will plan, develop, deliver, and operate all aspects of the Area Headquarters maintenance program in compliance with established schedules and budgets. Positions will review, plan, and schedule maintenance requests, prioritize needs, and determine equipment, labor, materials, and methods for maintenance, repair/replacement of a variety of projects. Will ensure compliance with environmental requirements and provide technical expertise to solve problems. This is an emergency response position that requires working alongside and directing crews during inclement weather and disaster response after hours, on weekends, and holidays as required.

Minimum Qualifications


• Considerable experience with highway construction and maintenance equipment, materials and work methods, practices and procedures.
• Experience supervising staff.
• Skill in the use of computers and software applications.
• Skill in reading road and bridge sketches.
• Skill in providing and promoting good customer service to internal and external customers.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and plan work within a budget, develop cost estimates, and manage inventory.
• Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures.
• Ability to schedule, plan, and monitor work activities.
• Ability to gather data, maintain accurate and up to date records, conduct research, and create reports and correspondence for personnel, equipment, and materials.
• Valid driver’s license.


Additional Considerations


• Experience in maintenance and construction of roads.
• Experience planning, developing, and managing a budget and monitoring inventory.
• Experience managing performance and applying progressive discipline.
• Experience leading emergency operations activities.
• DEQ Erosion and Sediment Control certification desired.
• A combination of training, experience, or education in Business Administration, Transportation Operations, or a related field desired.
