Founded in 1921, Straub Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai'i. Straub is home to the Pacific Region’s only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently brings new technologies and innovative medical practices to Hawai'i, such as minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement.
Our Perioperative Transition team provides professional nursing care as part of our Perioperative Services continuum, and provides full support throughout the duration of a patient's surgical procedure, including ward admission, anesthesia and recovery. Professional care includes identification of the patient’s individual needs, patient care plan development and implementation and the coordination of nursing service to restore the patient’s health after a surgical procedure. The unit is open on nights, weekends and holidays to best take care of the patient’s needs.
As the Perioperative Transition Registered Nurse, you will have the opportunity to cater to the surgical patient’s pre-operative healthcare needs, personal comfort and convenience. The highly trained team is also charged with many critical tasks for the care of post-anesthesia and post-operative patients including monitoring vital signs, and managing post-operative pain. We are looking for someone attentive and dedicated, with a fine-tuned sense of responsibility, the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented atmosphere, and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications: Current Hawai’i Registered Nurse license. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS) CPR cards. Two (2) years recent registered nurse experience in Post Anesthesia Care and/or Surgical Admission Services, Emergency Room or Intensive Care Unit.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN). Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) CPR card.
