Program Manager/Coach

POSITION PURPOSE

SoCal Adaptive Sports’ mission is to enable people with disability to participate inclusively throughout society by creating greater equity and inclusion through developing, planning and implementing competitive and recreational sports and other opportunities. We are looking for a responsible Program Manager/Coach to work directly with the Executive Director in providing expert coaching, outreach and program development. Your job will be to provide all of the above to help us achieve our mandate to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities throughout Riverside County and other Southern California communities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver hands-on coaching for various adaptive sports and other programs for people with disabilities in various locations throughout Southern California.
  • Foster a supportive and encouraging environment that promotes skill development, teamwork, and individual growth for participants.
  • Develop and implement effective coaching strategies for adaptive sports programs, ensuring a positive and inclusive experience for participants.
  • Provide training sessions for volunteers and assistant coaches, ensuring a consistent and high standard of coaching across all programs.
  • Stay informed about developments in adaptive sports and coaching methodologies to enhance program offerings.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to plan, organize, and execute adaptive sports and other programs throughout the year.
  • Assist in the recruitment and registration of participants for different programs.
  • Manage logistics, including scheduling, equipment procurement and facility coordination for program sessions.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and track program attendance.
  • Actively engage with the disability community, schools, and other relevant organizations to promote awareness of our programs.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with community partners, program participants, their families and volunteers.
  • Represent the organization at community events and outreach activities to attract new participants and supporters.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 3-5 years demonstrable experience playing and/or coaching a variety of sports; adaptive sports experience highly preferred.
  • AA Degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in using Macintosh or PC operating system, with emphasis on MS Office suite, including word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Local day travel throughout Southern California is required. Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

COMPENSATION: $18.00/hr

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • This position reports to the Executive Director.
  • This is a part-time position, with schedule to be assigned by the Executive Director. Work days and hours are generally Monday through Friday, between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
  • This role has no supervisory responsibility, although the position may supervise volunteers at various events.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
