Under the direction of Patient Accounts Receivable Lead, the Patient Accounts Receivable Coordinator will review and collect patient balances (copays, no show fees, deductibles, etc). The Patient A/R Coordinator will contact patients/families as needed to update credit card information or to respond to inquiries. This position will also work with insurance companies to confirm patient responsibility, resolve claims issues, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Process credit card payments and post to patient ledger in EMR/PM system
  • Contact patients or families through multiple channels (email, phone, patient engagement platform) to update credit card information, respond to inquiries, etc
  • Work with billing team to ensure patient balances are correct
  • Work with insurance companies, payers and other third-parties to ensure timely submission and correct payment on claims as needed, ensuring patient responsibility is correctly reflected on patient invoices
  • Review EOB's and payments to ensure correct processing of claims
  • Review and process insurance and patient refunds
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1-3 years' health care experience, preferably in front desk, administration or billing areas
  • 1-3 years' experience in customer service setting

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL:

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with patients, provider partners and colleagues
  • Strong focus on customer service
  • Open to professional and clinical feedback and interested in working in a supporting and collegial environment.
  • Flexibility to adjust to a dynamic work environment.
  • Must value operating in a collaborative and cooperative environment.
  • Ability to show initiative, good judgment, and resourcefulness.
  • The target range for this position is $14 to $18 per hour as a non-exempt, hourly position. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including certification, experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
