We are seeking compassionate and motivated individuals to join our team as part-time Mentor/Behavioral Specialists. This position involves working directly with youth and adolescents involved in the juvenile justice and foster care systems who face significant behavioral challenges. As a Mentor/Behavioral Specialist, you will play a critical role in guiding these young individuals toward making positive changes in their behavior and life choices.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one mentorship and support to youth with behavioral issues.
- Teach youth how to manage disruptive behaviors, develop coping strategies, and make positive decisions.
- Assist in teaching respect for authority figures, following instructions, and controlling impulses.
- Document the youth’s progress on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Receive ongoing training and therapeutic supervision to ensure evidence-based services are implemented effectively and progress is made.
- Encourage positive behavior change by teaching life skills, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
- Act as a positive role model while promoting healthy decision-making.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must pass an FBI fingerprint background check and local law enforcement background check.
- First Aid and CPR certification required.
- Must take and receive negative results on a tuberculosis (TB) test.
- Reliable, insured, and registered vehicle required.
- Must pass a written exam as part of the interview process.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Individuals with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, criminal justice, human services, social work, or other related fields are highly encouraged to apply.
- College students who are studying in relevant fields and wish to gain experience working with youth and adolescents are also encouraged to apply.
