Part-time Nonprofit Bookkeeper / AR/AP and Payroll Specialist – Temporary Position

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Nonprofit AR/AP and Payroll Specialist to join our client’s team in Chicago. As a nonprofit organization based in Chicago, IL our client is dedicated to providing opportunities and support to young adults from underserved communities through technology training and workforce development. Job Specifications:
  • Job Type: Temporary ; 3 months +
  • Role: Nonprofit Bookkeeper / AR/AP and Payroll Specialist
  • Location: Chicago, IL 60654 – River North
  • Pay Rate: $25-35 per hour
  • Shift: Flexible ; hours are between 20-35 weekly

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Nonprofit Financial Operations:
- Processing bi-weekly payroll, handling AP and AR
  • Set up new vendors and process payments using Bill.com
  • Manage accounts receivable and invoicing in QuickBooks Online (QBO)

- Staffing Business Support:
  • Handle new employee setup, including I-9, W-4, banking info, and IDs
  • Manage timesheets, PTO, and bi-weekly payroll through Gusto
  • Generate payroll and client billing reports

Qualifications & Skills:
2+ years prior similar experience in AP, AR and Payroll within QuickBooks
  • Solid analytical skills and finance expertise
  • Proficiency in accounts receivable and invoicing
  • Experience in nonprofit financial operations ideal, not required
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and software (QuickBooks, Gusto, Bill.com, and Ramp)
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
