What You Will Do:

As an Operator, you will play an essential role within our Anchorage Field Construction department, reporting to the Supervisor of Construction & Maintenance. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Operate power construction equipment to install gas lines.
• Excavate, move, and grade earth; transport and dump loose materials such as brush, stumps, and classified material.
• Perform duties related to the installation and maintenance of the gas distribution system, including plastic pipe fusion and pipe wrapping.
• Assist in loading pipe onto trucks or trailers.
• Assist in unloading shipments of incoming pipe and materials.
• Assist in maneuvering fusion or other equipment around job site.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
• Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

What You Will Bring:

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Three or more year's heavy equipment operating experience.
• Construction background performing work that required mechanical aptitude.
• Must be able to pass all federally required Operator Qualification testing.
• Must possess First Aid Card
• Possess a valid Alaska Commercial Driver's License and be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the ENSTAR's Driving Policy.
• Ability to pass a drug, background, past employment, and driving record screening.

Preferred skills and qualifications:

• Knowledge, skill, and ability to operate heavy equipment.
• Intermediate knowledge of construction practices and piped distribution systems; ability to perform related tasks.
• Ability to work safely.
• Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively interact with individuals within and outside of ENSTAR.
• Ability to wear and use ENSTAR's approved Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
• Ability to be self-directed, perform successfully in a multi-task environment, and effectively contribute individually, or as part of a team.
• Apply knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle in difficult situations.
• Ability to learn and understand ENSTAR's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
