NURSE MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION


SUMMARY: Oversight and management of virtual care team: managing daily clinical operations, quality, and efficiency of care delivery.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, implements, and monitors planning and evaluation systems to ensure quality nursing services.
  • Develops and establishes policies and guidelines as they relate to virtual services.
  • Performs managerial/supervisory functions including but not limited to recruiting and maintaining adequate skilled staff, establishing, and monitoring clinical performance mechanisms, developing human relation skills in subordinate staff, assessing training needs, establishing, and maintaining reporting systems and relationships.
  • Provides clinical advice and expert consultation to customer partners and others; assists in establishing goals and objectives.
  • Ensures compliance with administrative, legal, and regulatory, and governmental and accrediting agency requirements for health care organization management.
  • Prepares and presents all required reports and paperwork.
  • Maintains department budget.
  • Represents OASIS Virtual Care to external agencies/organizations and customers.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops nursing staff; manages schedules and workflow.
  • Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to policies and procedures, agreed upon customer workflow and government regulations.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of nursing team; actively assists team when necessary; actively works to promote and recognize performance.
  • Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises employees within OASIS Virtual Care’s nursing department.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; maintenance of hospital (customer)-based credentials post-hire, hospital (customer)-based continuing mandatory education such as, license audits and professional documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree of Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Master’s Degree in related field or equivalent preferred.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered Multi-State (Compact) RN license.
  • Three (3) or more years nursing experience in an acute hospital patient care setting; preferably in medical/surgical, stepdown, and/or critical care.
  • Proven experience as a Nurse Manager, ideally in virtual or telehealth nursing.
  • Proficiency in virtual healthcare technologies and platforms preferred.
  • Experience with EMR systems, such as EPIC, Cerner, Meditech, etc. required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic competence in subordinates’ duties and tasks.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
  • Proven leadership and business acumen skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person, on the phone, electronically, or through other means to individuals and groups.
