Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to our medical staff, patients, and families in a fast-paced Level II Trauma Center environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in medical administrative support and be familiar with hospital medicine and emergency medicine procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians and other healthcare professionals with patient care, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and performing basic medical procedures.
- Provide administrative support, including scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and handling patient correspondence.
- Conduct routine medical procedures, such as taking X-rays, and assist with surgical procedures in the operating room.
- Assist in the outpatient setting with patient exams and procedures, including minor surgical procedures.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with other medical professionals to ensure effective patient care and efficient department operations.
- Participate in emergency situations, including code blue and trauma cases, in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Perform tasks related to dermatology, including skin examinations and biopsies, as necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant certification or registration preferred.
- Completion of a medical assisting program or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of medical administrative support and hospital medicine procedures.
- Familiarity with X-ray technology and outpatient care.
- Experience in an emergency medicine or Level II Trauma Center environment is advantageous.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records systems and other healthcare software.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 24 per week
