Material Logistic Engineer – Product Sustainability, Quality, & Logistics

Zoetis Veterinary Medicine Research and Development, Product Sustainability, Quality & Logistics in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking a Material Logistic Engineer at the Engineer / Senior Engineer level.

Zoetis discovers, develops, and manufactures a diverse portfolio of animal health medicines, biopharmaceuticals and vaccines designed to meet the real-world needs of veterinarians and the livestock farmers and companion animal owners they support.  We are currently seeking to fill new positions to support our growing research portfolio. 

Position Summary
This position will require a highly motivated, independent individual who can effectively collaborate with other team members to advance projects.  The Material Logistic Engineer will be instrumental in ensuring seamless access to physical materials and their related information within the laboratory environment. This role involves coordinating material provisioning to support project execution effectively.  This role is critical to the smooth operation of the laboratory, ensuring that studies can be conducted without delays due to material shortages.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Manage and track the inventory of physical materials, ensuring their availability and accessibility for laboratory studies.
• Coordinate with various departments to gather and disseminate information related to materials.
• Works closely within our supply chain process to ensure timely provisioning of necessary materials prior to study execution.
• Maintain accurate records of sample logistics and supply levels.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in the handling and storage of materials.
• Customer-service oriented mindset, with a willingness to accommodate special, time-sensitive, or comprehensive end-user requests.
• Provide input into project plans, keep relevant sections of project plans current, and execute plans according to agreed timelines and budgets.

Qualifications:

• BS/MS degree in engineering, computer science, or related field with 0-4 years industry experience.
• Ability and comfort with learning/using lab automation, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and online Inventory databases.  Possess basic to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience in logistics or supply chain management, preferably within a laboratory setting.
• Strong organizational and coordination skills.
• Capable of working with minimal oversight in a cross-functional environment.  Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work flexibly in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
• Experience with automated high throughput sample preparation and analytical assays.
• Skills and experience in experimental design, technical problem solving and continuous improvement.
