Job Description

Under the direction of the Events and Marketing Manager:


Specific Responsibilities

  • Library Marketing
    • Follow the library’s brand guidelines
    • Assist with promoting library activities to the public and stakeholders via multiple channels, including, but not limited to social media, press releases, print and digital materials, etc.
    • Support activity on the library’s approved social media platforms
    • Assist with public relations efforts
    • Assist with marketing campaigns to promote the library and its services
    • Create and design print and digital publications in a variety of formats
  • Library Events
    • Provide administrative assistance to the Programming workgroup
    • Work with library programming staff to present community events
    • Ensure library calendar of events is consistent with other library marketing efforts


ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in program information and materials.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with staff and programming teams.
  • Communication: Must be able to write clear and concise content for various marketing materials (press releases, social media posts, etc.)
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in using common office software (Google Workspaces0, etc.).
  • Customer Service: Experience providing excellent customer service in a public setting.
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills to manage event logistics and ensure a smooth event experience.
  • Social Media Management: Experience managing and creating content for social media platforms.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Brand Management: Understanding of brand guidelines and how to apply them consistently.
  • Graphic Design: Ability to create visually appealing print and digital marketing materials (brochures, flyers, social media graphics, etc.).
  • Marketing Campaign Support: Ability to assist with planning and executing marketing campaigns.
  • Public Relations: Experience with media outreach and building relationships with the public.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent
  • May have some post-secondary experience
  • Must have prior work experience
  • May have some library experience (preferred)
  • Must have some experience (two years preferred) in a specialized professional field or practice (graphic design, office administration/management, facilities/maintenance, accounting, human resources, information technology, etc.)
