This position supports and trains District users on master scheduling and gradebook at all levels with the Student Information System (SIS) currently Synergy.
Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Will manage, direct and evaluate the SIS school scheduling support team.
- Will work closely with immediate supervisor to align and assign courses to the district course master while aligning to on-going changes to graduation requirements from the District, State and Federal levels.
- Ability to take a primary and secondary schedule from inception to a working model within an SIS.
- Will monitor and communicate scheduling status of schools to immediate supervisor.
- Works with the SIS technical team to identify and develop useful, user-friendly reports to assist schools in areas of data integrity.
- Supports District users over the phone and in-person regarding scheduling and other various SIS modules as assigned.
- Develops the SIS training calendar, reserve rooms, provide training materials and execute the trainings.
- Ensures that the district SIS adhere to the strictest standards of confidentiality and the protection of student information.
- Oversees the security of access to all systems of student information under the director’s purview.
- Establishes goals for student information operation, designs strategies to meet these goals and measures the progress.
- Investigates new SIS features and works with functional users to evaluate risk/need and develop recommendations for implementing new updates.
- Works closely with the State Reporting and Accountability team to ensure data integrity from the school level to the State Reporting level.
- Works closely with the vendor to develop new functionality within the SIS to accommodate changing policies from the District, State and Federal levels.
- Collaborates and leverages all APS resources available to execute a variety of trainings required for users to use the SIS and its full functionality.
- Evaluates trainings and workshops by staff and provides feedback to ensure constant improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of those trainings.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
- Strong knowledge of all modules within an SMS, specifically Synergy.
- Has worked in a secondary school environment, specifically building a master schedule that meets student and state requirements.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Access
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem solving skills.
- Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone.
- Knowledge of APS community, computer system, financial and legal requirements.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects and coordinate the work of others.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer related field and 6 years experience OR High School Diploma or GED and 14 years of related experience.
- Strong school scheduling experience and knowledge at a functional and system level, especially secondary.
- Previous experience training and supporting users in various settings (individuals, small groups, large groups) especially in areas of secondary scheduling.
