Position Summary

The machine shop manager leads people and processes, overseeing the day-to-day activities of our machining, and barrel building processes. This individual will direct team activities with the goal of manufacturing the best possible products on -time while maintaining a safe working environment, continuously improving processes, and developing employees in knowledge/competency resulting in a more effective team. Candidates must be flexible and able to respond positively to changes and challenges. They should be able to think outside the box to solve problems and willing to go the extra mile to ensure department goals are met. The ideal candidate will embrace the objectives and the culture of the company and can integrate them into daily decisions/actions consistently.

What makes you great for this role

  • 3-5 yrs. Of management experience.
  • 10-15 yrs in the Machining industry.
  • Must have a good work ethic.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading and GDNT.
  • Good math skills.
  • Strong understanding of CNC Lathes and CNC 3 and 5 Axis mills.
  • Good knowledge of cutting tools.
  • Knowledgeable in machining Titanium, Aluminum, and different types of steel.
  • Programming knowledge preferred, but not required.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review drawings, instructions, and blueprints to ensure accurate production.
  • Mentor employees on to how to properly measure with required measurement equipment.
  • Monitors production for all shifts.
  • Maintains inventory of materials and tooling.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other departments.
  • Mentor and train less experienced operators.
  • Check and maintain quality inside of the Machine Shop.
  • Maintain a good team environment.
  • Develop training pathway and training program for employees.
  • Coordinate with Production control on scheduling.
  • Continuous improvement projects.
