LUK is recruiting cohort of 18 AmeriCorps members to serve for 10 months, from September/October 2024 to May/June 2025. Qualified candidates will be at least 18 years old. Candidates must be able to commit to a full-term of service. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills as well as strong computer skills. Candidate must be comfortable meeting one on one with youth and facilitating groups of youth. This is a reduced full-time service position (1200 total service hours over 10 months) located in Central Massachusetts and will include community-based travel and implementation. We strongly encourage candidates from traditionally underrepresented communities and historically marginalized groups including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color; bilingual/bicultural; and LGBTQ+ individuals to apply. Members will provide the following services at host sites: Meet 1:1 with youth weekly at the host site during regular operating hours, meeting with an average of 2-3 youth each day. Each age-appropriate session will be based on Positive Youth Development principles and will include a check-in, relationship-building activities, goal setting and monitoring, and connection to resources as needed. You’ll also get time to prepare for and document these sessions. Meet with your group of around a dozen youth at the host site during regular operating hours. Each age-appropriate group will include a check-in, team-building activity, learning activity, and debrief. You’ll also spend time preparing for and documenting these groups. About once a month, you and other Thrive Ambassadors at your site will each plan and accompany youth to host-site or community-based Positive Youth Development activities. These can take place during normal operating hours, but can also be held during the evening or on weekends/holidays.
