Job Description

The Learning & Development Performance Coach plays an important role in ensuring operational performance coaches are capable of performing their job duties effectively and efficiently. Reporting to the Learning & Development Manager (L&D Mgr.), the Learning & Development Performance Coach will train and mentor performance coaches, assist with curriculum development of the performance coach training program, perform audits on performance coach performance, serve as the subject-matter expert on operational SOPs, execute new-hire training, and assist department performance coaches as needed. The L&D Performance coach will provide oversight of systematic training and processes for new hires. The L&D Performance coach will act as a conduit between operations and the L&D department. They will assist operational leaders with the execution of the performance coach program and work with them on development plans for operational performance coaches. They must learn key operational aspects of all procedural, systems and functional tasks, give in-classroom training to their peers, and ensure performance coaches and associates understand their functional areas, warehouse management systems, functional and/or any procedural changes. This includes training observations of performance coaches and associates with respect to their performance against labor management standards and provide additional recommendations on training support as needed. (While the Learning & Development Performance Coach is expected to provide regular input to supervisors and managers regarding performance, the Learning and Development Performance Coach is not responsible for direct supervision and does not have authority to change the terms and conditions of employment)

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Act as a Coach to operations performance coaches and associates, provide guidance and support in order to develop the skills and abilities needed to be successful in their roles
  • Facilitates training for new performance coaches, managers, and associates
  • Serve as the Subject-matter expert on warehouse operational procedures and processes, and warehouse management systems as stated in SOPs
  • Track training and maintain training systems via spreadsheets, Learning Management systems (LMS), and physical files
  • Utilizes tools that measure training impact such as surveys and feedback instruments
  • Provides feedback to Learning and Development management to offer suggestions and continually improve programs/processes for quality/productivity gains
  • Completes training checklists and class attendance rosters as required
  • Assist Operational performance coaches in training new hires within their functional areas as needed
  • Remains in the work area to respond to questions from trainees
  • Assist with the execution of new hire orientation as needed
  • Performs other related activities as assigned
Scope
  • Staff supervision and development — None
  • Decision making – Performance input provided; no formal decision making authority
  • Travel – Does not include required steady or continuous travel, however, may include intermittent travel to other distribution centers

Requirements

Job Qualifications – Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of training and education required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a formal training role or function
  • Minimum 2 years of experience training or mentoring employees
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in distribution, manufacturing or related industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills of loading, stacking and other warehouse equipment
  • Must be in good standing (no performance/attendance write-ups within the last 6 months)
  • Must communicate clearly and effectively with associates and managers
  • Can effectively work with associates of diverse backgrounds
  • Flexible to work other shifts and/or weekends as required
  • Operates with honesty and integrity
Physical Requirements
General warehouse environment requiring ability to:
  • Stand, walk, sit for extended periods
  • Communicate effectively in person, one on one and large groups, via telephone, email, or any other electronic media platform
  • Use keyboard and read from computer screen and reports
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.

The anticipated rate for this position is $29.00 - $31.90 per hour depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience. In addition, we offer comprehensive and competitive benefits to Associates (and their families) such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability. Eligible Associates are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Associates will accrue paid time off up to 152 hours per year (inclusive of PTO, floating holidays, and paid holidays). Paid sick time up to 64 hours per year unless otherwise required by law.
