This is a full-time, limited duration position and is represented by a union. The duration of this position is expected to end up to 12 months after hire. Limited duration positions are benefit eligible. This recruitment may be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill current or future vacancies.
What will you do?
The
Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Oregon State Hospital(OSH),
Facilities Services Department in Junction City, Oregon has a fantastic career opportunity for a limited duration Laborer/Student Worker to provide support to skilled trades and facilities maintenance workers in the Physical Plant during renovations, remodels and routine repairs. This position also functions as an escort to contractors to gain access to secure areas, assuring safety and security to patients, staff, and visitors. This position does various duties and tasks assigned to the Physical Plant, under the supervision of a Physical Plant Manager. In supplying this support, we endeavor to provide a safer, more therapeutic atmosphere for clients and staff at Oregon State Hospital.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be enrolled at least half-time in high school or college.
OR
The appointing authority is responsible for recruitment and selection.
Desired Attributes:
  • Experience assisting various craftsmen, such as carpenters, electricians, plumbers and Facilities Maintenance Workers.
  • Experience doing general clean-up of job sites, such as sweeping or vacuuming.
  • Experience doing minor repairs and routine maintenance to buildings and equipment.
  • Experience with worksite safety and security.
Working Conditions:
The employee works in a secure environment in contact and/or work with patients and or inmates on a daily basis. Employee may be required to work hours subject to change with little notice. May be required to work hours that exceed the regular schedule, i.e., work a double shift or a different shift in addition to regular schedule. This position often must work outside in inclement weather, work from ladders and scaffold, lift and carry heavy objects, work in unsanitary conditions and work independently.
