The Department of Health Services (DHS) Southern Wisconsin Center (SWC) is recruiting to fill an Institution Treatment Director.

SWC is a state run, licensed and certified Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ICF/IDD). SWC provides a wide variety of programs and services designed to assist and prepare individuals to live successfully in the setting that best meets their needs. Position Summary


As a member of the Administrative Team, you will be responsible for planning, administering, and evaluating SWC’s programs of professional therapeutic and psychological services. Responsibilities include:

  • Establishing and implementing program goals and objectives
  • Providing functional and/or professional supervision over staff who provide direct psychological, mental health, behavioral, and rehabilitative treatment services to residents and other paraprofessional staff assigned to the Psychological Services, Center for Residential Service Programs (CRSP), and Rehabilitation work units. Service areas include the development, implementation, review and evaluation of therapeutic treatment approaches, techniques and programs.
  • Ensuring compliance with Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) conditions and standards; 42 CFR 483, Wi Legislature Chapter 55 (Protective Service System), and other Federal and State rules and regulations.
  • Ensuring the provision of professional services which meet the requirements of various professional practice acts and contemporary professional standards and psychology services.

Salary Information


The starting pay is between $50.00-$56.33 per hour (approximately between $104,000- $117,200 per year) depending upon qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 24-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as an Institution Treatment Director and is in pay schedule and range 81/01.

Job Details


All applicants who may be appointed will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

Qualifications


Minimally qualified applicants will have all the following:

  • Experience assessing, developing and implementing psychological mental health and behavioral support plans using clinical knowledge.
  • Experience in a leadership role (e.g. informal supervision, leading teams or workgroups, training, mentoring or teaching professional and paraprofessional staff, etc.).
  • Experience collecting and analyzing data to evaluate treatment outcomes.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience in a supervisory or management role (e.g., interviewing or recommending hire of staff, preparing and conducting performance evaluations, developing staff, resolving conflict, administering discipline, etc.).
  • Quality improvement experience to include participating in development and implementation of programmatic changes to improve services.
  • Experience using an electronic health record (EHR).
  • Experience with supervisory or management responsibilities in a 24/7 facility.
