What you will do:
• Engage in a wide range of responsibilities that involve the use of technical electronic diagnostics, computer equipment, and precision instruments, requiring attention to detail to effectively diagnose, disassemble, repair, lubricate, reassemble, or maintain equipment.
• Analyze machinery and equipment to identify the causes of malfunctions using visual and auditory cues.
• Operate equipment to verify fixes and confirm proper functioning.
• Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting, adjusting, cleaning, or lubricating equipment. Responsible for dismantling, replacing, repairing, installing, and assembling various components.
• Adjust mechanisms related to feed, speed, power input, and output as necessary.
• Utilize various mechanical and electronic testing equipment to ensure the machinery operates optimally.
• Possess specific knowledge of pumps, conveyor systems, motors, and drives to effectively execute maintenance tasks.
• Repair and maintain industrial equipment, including conveyor systems and major machine centers such as debarkers, canters, gang saws, and edgers.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and printed instructions.
• Effectively move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
• Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to maintain safety in high-pressure work situations.
• Understand basic alignments of pumps, sheaves, sprockets, and machine centers.
• Adjust the tension on nuts and bolts to set proper clearances, using hand tools and measuring instruments.
• Align machines and equipment through the use of hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb tools.
• Assemble and install equipment using hand tools and power tools efficiently.
• Layout mounting holes using measuring instruments and drill holes with power drills.
• Replace defective machine parts or adjust clearances and alignments of moving pieces.
• Level bedplates and establish centerlines using straightedges, levels, and transits.
• Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
• Attach moving parts and sub-assemblies to basic assembly units utilizing hand and power tools.
• Remain current with technical advancements in equipment through continued education and training.
• Work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.
• Commit to strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety gear and completing all necessary training.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Education and Experience you will need:
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• At least two (2) years of experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment.
• Skill in the precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, and pumps.
• Experience in troubleshooting issues with bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, and conveyors.
• Ability to read blueprints effectively.
• Experience in fabrication, cutting with a torch, and welding with an arc welder.
• History of working in a manufacturing environment.
What will make you stand out:
• Experience in Industrial Maintenance, including welding and troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems, as well as reading hydraulic schematics.
• Experience in lubrication preventative maintenance and troubleshooting lubrication-related issues.
• Familiarity with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Relevant courses or a degree in Industrial Maintenance.
