This position is responsible for the development and implementation of the University’s web and digital strategy, which includes oversight of the Northern Kentucky University’s website and digital marketing plans. In addition, the Director of Web & Digital Strategy will lead and serve as project manager as new website content management systems and digital initiatives are developed and launched. This position plays a key role in outlining future web technology, driving development and implementation of new digital applications, and ensuring NKU’s online presence is user-friendly and aligned with NKU’s strategic framework and brand.
The Director of Web & Digital Strategy will serve as the liaison with NKU’s academic and business units to prioritize web development and update needs and identify new digital marketing. The Director will report to the Executive Director of Marketing & Communication/Chief Marketing Officer. In addition, the Director will also play a collaborative role along with leadership to ensure that the full range of digital marketing is leveraged in strategic ways that further the goals of projects and advance the broader strategic goals of the University.
Primary Responsibilities
Manages web development staff and vendors that support web development and digital marketing. Oversees the implementation of priority website projects including content management system updates, redesigns, etc. Directs overall university web strategy related to site layout, content priorities and site usability/accessibility consistent with university branding and marketing guidelines
Researches and implements strategic marketing initiatives through the use of the website, continually evaluate and refine search-based tactics (Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing) to grow site traffic.
Monitors Google Analytics website metrics to continuously improve and further develop the University’s digital strategies to enhance visibility, visual identity, and accessibility capacities. inform and establish website strategy. Compiles site analytics and assists in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the university’s web presence, researches potential improvements and alternatives, recommends and implements changes.
Partners with internal teams, academic units and divisions to recommend and support digital strategies and plans. Works with university content authors and editors to ensure conformity of content and design across the university website.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 10 years of professional work experience that includes at least 7 years of web development/design and writing effective targeted content for online communications and 7 years of leadership/management experience.
Significant experience with content management systems, HTML and information architecture. Microsoft Office suite, Web editing skills, Google Analytics Ability to analyze multiple data sets; make solid decisions about ROI for short-term and long-term results Excellent interpersonal, written, communication and presentation skills Strong leadership skills, experience in coaching and managing others and successfully leading project teams - Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and contribute creative ideas
