Job Description

Job Summary:

The Director of IT PMO will lead and manage the IT Project Management Office, ensuring the successful delivery of high-priority projects that align with organizational goals. This role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of technology business processes, and people. The ability to coach and develop a high-performing team while instilling a culture of excellence is required. This role reports directly to the SVP of IT.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Development: Build, coach, and mentor a high-performing team of project managers, business analysts, and solution specialists to accelerate project delivery and align initiatives with business objectives.
  • Project Oversight: Facilitate, oversee, and enhance the execution of high-priority projects within the IT department, ensuring they meet organizational standards and goals.
  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements into detailed project specifications.
  • Business Acumen: Develop a deep understanding of the business, its goals, and operations, leveraging this knowledge to align IT projects with strategic objectives.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources and tracking expenditures to maintain financial accountability.
  • Strategic Alignment: Serve as both a technological and business expert to ensure that IT strategies align seamlessly with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Process Improvement: Foster a process-driven and transparent culture within the IT department, promoting accountability and clarity in project execution.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including users and Subject Matter Experts, to drive organizational change and optimize current and future business platforms.
  • Technological Roadmap: Partner with the Senior Vice President of IT to develop and refine the organizational technological roadmap, including project estimates and timelines.
  • Project Implementation: Lead the implementation and success of high-priority projects across the organization, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Solution Development: Identify and produce efficient solutions for system integration, maintenance, migration, and architecture to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • SDLC and DevOps: Ensure adherence to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes, maintain comprehensive documentation, and support strategic DevOps practices.
  • Risk Management: Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize potential impacts on project delivery.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and issues.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and lessons learned.
  • Technological Advancement: Stay abreast of technological advancements in development, design, and system architecture to leverage innovative business solutions.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the organization.
  • Build World Class Strategic Planning Team: Create a world class team that can extend beyond IT and act as a strategic arm of the organization that engages Executives and executes on company priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in IT project management, with a proven track record of successfully leading complex projects and managing diverse teams.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing team of project managers, business analysts, and solution specialists, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Strategic Vision: Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to align IT initiatives with organizational goals and drive transformative change.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of IT project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.), the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and emerging technologies that impact business processes.
  • Budget Management: Proven experience in developing and managing project budgets, resource allocation, and financial tracking, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners to drive project success and foster a unified approach to organizational change.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is required; a Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PgMP, ITIL) is preferred. Work experience will be considered in place of specific education requirements.
  • Change Management: Strong understanding of change management principles and experience in guiding organizations through transitions, ensuring stakeholder buy-in and engagement.
  • Continuous Improvement: A commitment to staying current with industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements to continuously improve processes and outcomes.
