Rho Chemical Company, a family owned business specializing in custom organic chemical processing, is currently seeking to fill an open position for a chemical laborer. Ideal candidates for this position will have experience handling chemicals. Candidates with a background in unrelated manufacturing or other heavy industrial trades will be considered.

Chemical Laborer Job Summary

The chemical laborer will be responsible for following instructions to perform packaging and shipping related duties to ensure on-time packaging and shipment of product while adhering to high standards of quality, safety and customer service. This position will perform production duties such as setup for packaging, tote and drum filling, drum labeling, product palletizing, product sampling and other related duties as instructed by the department supervisor.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Load and unload box trucks and tank trucks with a variety of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals
• Retrieve material and supplies needed for the daily production schedule
• Prepares necessary pumps and hoses for loading and unloading
• Inspects all containers prior to filling for cleanliness and integrity
• Fills containers as prescribed in the associated batch ticket and prepares containers for shipment including labelling, palletizing and wrapping
• Maintains neat, thorough and correct completion of all batch related documentation
• Store and stage inventory in assigned areas for product storage or shipping
• Maintains a clean and organized work area and strictly adheres to all plant safety and security policies
• Provides immediate containment, reporting and clean-up/recovery of spilled material or leaks in compliance with waste management practices
• Operates production equipment in a manner consistent with training and work instructions to ensure safety and the highest level of product quality
• Operates all types of forklifts and other related motorized vehicles in a safe and proficient manner

Qualifications and Competencies

• A legal U.S. citizen
• Completed high school degree or equivalent
• Ability to read and write in English
• Must be proficient in basic mathematics
• Ability to read and understand safety rules and procedures for handling chemical substances
• Ability to wear and utilize any necessary personal protective equipment
• Ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks
• Ability to communicate in an open and honest manner
• Support a strong work/safety ethic throughout the organization
• Ability to function as a team player with good interpersonal skills
• Reliable attendance

Physical Demands

The position requires moderate physical exertion such as operating equipment, repetitive motions, and standing for varying periods of time. The employee will also need the physical ability to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and be physically capable of climbing ladders. Employee may be exposed to loud sounds, running machinery, bulk chemicals and varying temperature/weather changes in manufacturing.

Position Type

This is a full-time hourly position. The job is primarily single day shift, Monday-Friday, but on occasion overtime and weekend hours may be required.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
